Description

The Colca Canyon, a wonderful place in the Andes, located in Arequipa, is one of the deepest canyons in the world, with 3269 m or 10,725 feet, it is one of the last homes of the condors, if we are lucky we will see many of them flying over us. Join us on this excursion through one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Peru.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arequipa - Chivay

We will pick you up in the morning from your hotel in Arequipa, we will start the bus trip through a beautiful Andean landscape, on the way we will see the impressive Chachani volcano and we will make a brief stop at the Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve, home to some South American camelids such as Vicuñas and a variety of birds such as flamingos.
We will pass near the crater of the Chucura volcano, then we will stop at the highest point of our trip at 4800 meters above sea level where is the viewpoint of the volcano to contemplate the amazing view of the western mountain range.
We continue our trip, and in the middle of the afternoon we will arrive, after 6 hours of travel, to the town of Chivay, which is the closest town to the Colca Canyon, here we will spend the night, after registering at our hotel, we will have time to walk, visit the traditional town and have lunch, optional we could go to the famous hot springs of "La Calera" one of the best in southern Peru.

Day 2: Chivay - Cruz del Condor- Chivay - Arequipa.

Early in the morning after breakfast we will pick you up to board the bus again and go to the viewpoint of "Cruz del Cóndor", a strategically located place that shows us a magical view of the canyon and the perfect place to observe the flight of the majestic condors, the largest flying birds in the world, some have up to 3 meters of wingspan.
After this unforgettable experience, we will continue our tour of the Colca Canyon, visiting the Pinchollo, Maca and Yanque farmhouses with their beautiful colonial churches and stopping at different viewpoints to enjoy the view.
We will return to Chivay, where you will have time to have lunch and then start the return trip to the city of Arequipa on our bus. If you want we can get you on a bus to the city of Puno, just let us know your plans to help you at this point.

The walk is recommended for the whole family.
The excursion is not canceled due to bad weather, so you must take the necessary measures if your trip is in the rainy season.

Personal documents, as well as comfortable clothes for hiking, also warm clothes for the night, swimwear (optional).
You can bring a backpack to carry the necessary things for your trip such as water bottles, sunscreen, etc.
