DAY 01

DAY 1: Cusco - Ollantaytambo - Aguas calientes - Machu Picchu

  • We start the day picking you up from your hotel in the early hours of the morning to take you to the tourist bus station, the assigned bus leaves at 4:20 am to Ollantaytambo train station which is 1h 45 trip.
  • In Ollantaytambo you must board your train that at 6:40 am begins the journey of 1 hour and 45 minutes with final destination to the town of “Aguas Calientes” also called “Machu Picchu Pueblo”, is the closest town to the archaeological site of Machu Picchu, also known as “Machu Picchu Pueblo”.
  • At 8:05 am, you will arrive at the “Aguas Calientes” station, where our representative or guide will be waiting to help you board the Consettur bus, which will leave you at the door of the archaeological site.
  • The Consettur bus will take you in 25 minutes more to the entrance of Machu Picchu, at the control gate we must show our entrance tickets along with our personal documents in order to finally, start the tour in the Inca citadel.
  • Some of the places we will visit are the Qolqas, the system of terraces, ceremonial sites, the Temple of the Sun, the Sacred Rock, and others. The guided tour lasts approximately 2 hours, we will visit the most important places, the guide will give you a detailed explanation of each point and you will have time to take the pictures you want, at the end of the tour you must take the “Consettur” bus again to return to the town of “Aguas Calientes”.
  • You will have time for lunch, then, at 2:00 pm. you must go again to the station, to board the train at 2:30 pm, this train will leave you at Ollantaytambo station around 4:00 pm, finally we will board the private bus to return to the city of Cusco, where you will arrive just after 6:20 pm.
  • We finish the tour in the city of Cusco.

    All bus transportation is included, an experienced driver, to take you to the train station in “Ollantaytambo” and bring us back from “Ollantaytambo” and the city of Cusco on the return trip.

Weather in Machu Picchu.
The climate of Machu Picchu is quite variable and changing, typical of the jungle, generally temperate and wet, there are 2 relatively marked seasons, the rainy season, between October and March, being January and February the rainiest and most cloudy, and the dry season, between April and September which is when there is less chance of rain or cloudiness being the clearest and driest months June and July, for this reason are the months with the largest number of tourists and higher costs of services (high season).

Acclimatization period.
Cusco is at 3300 meters above sea level and Machu Picchu at 2700, you should take it easy, acclimatize by drinking liquids and eating light, at least the first days of your stay in these areas.

Adults and children.
Older adults and children can take this tour without any inconvenience, on the other way, this tour is not recommended for people with mobility problems or in wheelchairs.

Unforeseen events.
The excursion is not cancelled for unforeseen weather or social events such as strikes or mobilizations, we will take the necessary measures as the situation.

Cancellations and refunds.
By the Peruvian government the entrance tickets to Machu Picchu can't be canceled or modified, in the case you wish to cancel the tour completely, we can only be refunded the money used to buy train or bus tickets applying a penalty of 15%, the money used in tickets to Machu Picchu can't be refunded.

Pick up of clients.
The pick up is at the door of your hotel in the city of Cusco, we recommend you to book a hotel in the historic centre, so you can develop your tourist activities more easily.

Lost and found.
We recommend always be very careful with your personal things, in the citadel of Machu Picchu or in the transport, in any case if you have forgotten any object on the way, we will keep it in our warehouse as it has been reported.
